It was such a pleasure to get to coach these young talented ladies!  Their performance of Dvorak “American” Quartet was truly beautiful.  This is why I absolutely love teaching and coaching!

Julius Meinl w/Hope Shepherd

IMG_1340This past year Hope and I have been performing at Julius Meinl.  It has been a great way to test out new repertoire, and we have a lot of fun mixing genres, swapping parts/clefs, and eating the delicious food!  Hope to see friends there!

Voila Violins!

DSC_0050On Sunday, May 4, my students at Hyde Park Suzuki Institute performed at the Reva and David Logan Center!  It has been such a great 2 years working with Hilary, Catherine, and Lucinda.  The students have worked so hard and look so fabulous in these photos!  I am beyond impressed with their posture, stage presence, and musicality.  Here are some of my favorite photos from the event.  I am particularly excited about the 3rd photo, which is of my viola students from the winter term.

Brahms c minor piano quartet

TTC BrahmsOn April 10, 2014, I had the joy of performing the Brahms c minor Piano Quartet with Jaime Gorgojo, violin, Hope Shepherd, cello, and Yueun Kim, piano, at the University of Chicago’s Tea Time Concert Series.  We had a huge audience–thanks to all the Hyde Park Suzuki families and our friends who came out to support us.  photo

JSOH plays Elbo Room

Posted on:

elbo roomWe had a great concert Saturday night playing at the Elbo Room!  Big thanks to Hilary and friends who came out to see us!  We introduced a few new songs like Wake Me Up by Avicii and Unbelievers by Vampire Weekend.  Got good reviews from the venue and the crowd so we hope to be back there soon.  JSOH is booking a lot of summer shows right now–mostly out in the suburbs for concerts in the park.  I am pretty excited because they should be big crowds and good energy after this horrible winter.

MTNA Premiere

Posted on:

mtna postHad an amazing time this past Sunday performing a String Quartet premiere written by the 13 year old MTNA Composition Winner.  I was so impressed with how well written it was, and the poise this young musician had!  Also had a great time playing with new musician colleagues and Anna Carlson!

Rockford Orchestra

RSO1I had such a fun time performing with the Rockford Symphony Orchestra this past weekend!  We performed Sibelius’s Pohjola’s Daughter, Mahler’s Songs of a Wayfarer, and Strauss’ Don Quixote.  I was impressed with the solos and the friendliness of the section!  I hope I get to play with them again.

Studio Recital Success!

ellaSaturday, February 22, 2014 was a definite success!  All the students performed at such a high level–I am so proud to see all the hard work put into action.  These are a truly dedicated and talented bunch of children at the Hyde Park Suzuki Institute.  Here’s to another wonderful year ahead!
